Workshops    Plein-air watercolour Bendigo Art Gallery

04.05.24 to 04.05.24

This workshop is SOLD OUT.

I have been asked to run a second one on 12 MARCH.

At Bendigo Art Gallery I am conducting a plein-air watercolour painting workshop to coincide with the gallery's exhibition from the Musee Carnavalet in Paris, March to July 2024. All materials are provided. The workshop is for adults, all levels of experience, including beginners, catered for.

The workshop is on Saturday 4 May 2024 from 12 to 4 pm, and will include a short break for lunch. Bring your own lunch or you can go to the gallery cafe, which is adjacent to where we will paint, at the grassy hill in Rosalind Park with views across Bendigo.

Bendigo Art Gallery is taking the bookings: here is the link to the gallery website.

The gallery's blurb:

Follow in the footsteps of the artists who worked in the gardens and streets of belle époque Paris, in this hands-on workshop with acclaimed plein air painter Mark Dober. Mark will guide participants in the art of working outdoors: to select a distinctive view, prepare a composition, and to build up a painting through marks and layers. Learn how to get the most out of watercolour, a lightweight, portable, and fast-drying medium so suited to working outdoors and while travelling. Mark will share insights into the importance of plein air painting methods to the Impressionists and the artists who followed, who sought to capture changing light, vibrant colour, and moments of spontaneity.
