When: Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 January 2027. 10 am to 2 pm. We will paint lake side (in the shade) at the Castlemaine Botanical Gardens. 

Plein-air painting in oils requires hand/eye coordination. Looking (in a focussed way) and applying a corresponding patch or touch of paint.  This is no mechanical process, for it involves interpretation: seeing shapes, featuring some elements, editing out others, creating a composition. Particular attention will be given to exploring colour relationships.

If you are visiting Castlemaine this is an opportunity to see the Len Fox Art Award at Castlemaine Art Museum (I have a painting in the exhibition).

Cancellation policy: painting is unlikely to be cancelled due to weather - if it is hot there is good shade and if raining we can paint under cover at the gardens tea house.
